GreenTech Amsterdam will open its doors for the third time from 12 to 14 June this year. The event will be 20% larger than its predecessor in 2016 and 97% of all available stand space has already been booked by exhibitors. These impressive figures demonstrate that GreenTech Amsterdam is now firmly on the map as the platform for the international horticulture sector.
Visitors to this year’s GreenTech Amsterdam will have the opportunity to meet at least 450 exhibitors, many of whom are global market leaders and innovators in the field of horticulture technology. A wide range of greenhouse builders, horticultural suppliers, machine companies, soil and substrate producers, lighting partners and seed suppliers will be in attendance. There will also be an extensive, parallel knowledge programme.
Extensive knowledge programme, innovations and new pavilions
GreenTech 2018 will feature a wide-ranging knowledge programme with more than 80 sessions in three theatres (Food & Flower Crops; Climate, Water & Energy; and Trends & Innovation). Alongside the familiar Vertical Farming Pavilion there will also be the new Precision Horticulture Pavilion (focused on sensors, cameras, robotics and digitisation) and the Medicinal Crops Pavilion (focusing on technologies for medical cannabis production, among other things).
Another new segment this year will be The Organic Farmers Fair (TOFF), which will shed light on expertise and innovation in the field of organic farming over the course of three days. Together with IFOAM, FiBL and their five partners Bejo, DCM, Steketee, Koppert Biological Systems and Delphy, and with Wageningen University and Research as a supporting partner, GreenTech will arrange a high-level knowledge programme that will discuss today’s key issues in detail. TOFF will be the international meeting place of choice for organic growers as well as conventional farmers who are considering switching to organic.
Conference on the future of horticulture
The GreenTech Summit will take place a day before the exhibition, on 11 June 2018. It will bring together some 750 investors, breeders and farmers in a unique networking setting whilst also treating them to a first-rate programme of content. Under the motto ‘The future of horticulture – insights for the next decade’, visionaries and experts will share their views on what the world of horticulture will look like in 10 years’ time.

Opening keynote: Dick Veerman – The competitive edge of our horticultural system.
Dick Veerman is on a mission to let people know how food production, processing and sales influence our interests. His website Foodlog.nl has created a place for the ‘strategic conversation’ in society about the future of food and nutrition. Veerman has a practical and philosophical approach towards horticulture. He prefers innovation over sustainability because in his view, the world can only advance. In his opening keynote, Dick Veerman will expose the forces that drive us on our way forward.
Louis de Bruin (IBM): FoodTrust: How Blockchain technology transforms our Value Chain. With their collaborative network of growers, processors, wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, retailers and others, IBM aims to enhance transparency, visibility and accountability. How will permissioned, permanent and shared data on food origin, processing, shipping and more change the balance of power in the horticultural value chain?
The Summit programme that is currently still being finalised will also feature: Stijn Baan (Koppert Cress), Martin Koppert (Koppert Biological Systems), Mike Vermeij (BOM Group) and Christian Kromme, futurist and author of Humanification. Kromme will talk about the source code of innovation and the ways in which individuals can unlock it in themselves or apply it to the horticulture industry, the community and their lives in general. The Summit’s moderator will be stand-up comedian Greg Shapiro. Additional speakers will be announced in the near future.

Those interested in visiting GreenTech can register free of charge at www.greentech.nl until 5 June. After that date the entrance fee will be €40 including VAT for tickets booked online and €70 including VAT at the ticket office.
GreenTech Amsterdam is the global meeting place for professionals in horticulture technology.
