Ridder’s Dutch expertise for greenhouse ventilation and screening drive systems has been applied also to creating innovative climate screen solutions to help growers best manage greenhouse climate for their diverse crop types. Some of the most advanced solutions are highlighted for review.
Ridder’s energy saving (RES) screens help growers save on energy costs while also managing light and creating a stable climate. RES 10+ FR is the most advanced of this
screen type sold. It provides a market-leading 49% energy savings while shading only 11%.
It achieves this with 5 mm foil strips, while still allowing humidity transport and retracting into a tight bundle when opened. RES 20 D FR is an exceptional screen that shades 20% and greatly diffuses light due to its high HortiScatter. The diffusion balances out the light and dark areas within the greenhouse, creating even light spread across the crop, reducing crop stress and improving production. RES 20 D FR is perfectly suited for use in Ridder
Variable Screening (RVS), in which it is used with a darker screen to create any desired shade level by deploying both screens together in increments. The diffusion of RES 20 D FR ensures an even light distribution at crop level, even if the darker screen blocks some light.
With RVS, Ridder offers a valuable tool to help growers keep their crop in balance through the production cycle. Ridder’s Light Restriction screen (RLR 99 FR W) can be used as the second screen in RVS, ensuring complete control over light level and enhancing energy savings, while also restricting light emissions from the supplemental lamps. Its robust design limits twisting of strips and ensures a long lifespan. These three screens together represent Ridder’s recent screen innovations.
