The world’s leading horticultural trade fair from 28 to 31 January for the first time, at the completely modernized Messe Essen

France is the official partner country

IPM ESSEN will take place for the 38th time at Messe Essen from 28 to 31 January 2020. In 2020, the world’s leading horticultural trade fair will be held on the completely modernized exhibition grounds for the first time. Eight large exhibition halls on one level, equipped with the latest infrastructure, the Galeria and Hall 1A will offer the ideal presentation area to more than 1,500 exhibitors from almost 50 nations. For the first time, visitors will also be able to reach IPM ESSEN 2020 through the new East Glass Foyer as an entrance. The range on offer at the international trade fair will include innovative products and services from the fields of plants, technology, floristry and garden features. IPM ESSEN will be accompanied by a varied program. The neighbour France will present itself as the official partner country.
nThe numerous national stands are unique at IPM ESSEN: In 2020, Turkey will return to the world’s leading trade fair with 220 square meters of exhibition space. Guatemala will also present itself again after a year’s break. Lithuania is planning its own national stand. Other countries have confirmed their participation: Belgium, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Great Britain, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Hungary and the USA will present new solutions and innovations. Special attention will be paid to the national stands of France because, in 2020, the “Grande Nation” will present itself as the official partner country of IPM ESSEN. For example, the International Horticulture Forum will be held under the French flag and will shed light on current horticultural findings.

Awards, prize-giving ceremonies and competitions
The Green City in Hall 1A will once again be the hotspot for prize-giving ceremonies and competitions: the “Innovation Showcase” will feature the most beautiful and best new varieties from the participating plant exhibitors, selected by a jury of experts. In 2020, the IPM competitions will be held under the motto, “live it this way – it won’t get greener!” The wake-up calls of the young generation for climate and environmental protection cannot be ignored. Florists and trainees are being called upon to let their imaginations run wild and to express their love for diverse and flowering nature with their work. The “Show Your Colours Awards” in Hall 7 will focus on perennials and shrubs with special marketing concepts. The more unusual the story behind the plant, the greater the chance of winning the coveted award.
