CHP: Decentralized backbone in interaction with PV and heat pumps

10 January 2024 | Int. Greenhouse Guide | 2G Energy AG

Whether private citizens, industrial companies or housing associations – the whole of society is currently faced with the following question: How can I make my property energetically fit for the future while keeping an eye on supply security, economic efficiency and climate neutrality in equal measure? The installation of a PV system in combination with the use of a heat pump has become the norm within a very short time. In the course of this development, the renowned CHP technology is taking on a new role: away from the fossil-fuelled long-distance runner towards a green team player who acts as the local backbone in interaction with PV and heat pumps. Especially against the background of the implementation of higher-level legislative projects from municipal heat planning to the development of hydrogen-capable power plant capacities, decentralized CHP combines political projects with regional climate protection, reliable power supply and economical operation. At the same time, decentralized CHP systems can already be operated with biogas and hydrogen without restrictions.
