In Otterlo, Pluim Handelshuis has taken an important step in calves to improve the climate in their calf barn. Together with Techcomlight from Lunteren, the barn is equipped with smart daylight solutions that contribute to a healthier living environment for the calves and a more pleasant workplace for the employees.

The challenge

Good barn design is crucial for the welfare of calves. An open ridge often causes problems, such as draughts, unwanted temperature fluctuations and moisture. For that reason, Pluim Handelshuis decided to close the ridge. This improved the barn climate, but the challenge arose: how do we bring in enough daylight in the middle of the barn?

The solution: Powerdaylight daylight systems

Daylight strips have been installed around the barn, so that the outer edges of the barn are optimally illuminated. For the heart of the barn, Powerdaylight daylight tubes were chosen – produced and installed by Techcomlight.

These high-quality daylight systems bring natural sunlight deep into the barn, without heat or cold penetrating. The result: uniform, energy-efficient and sustainable lighting.
