Fancom is launching an innovative sow feeding station, the Intellitek Backout, specifically designed for gestating sows in group housing. This system stands out for its simplicity: it operates without pneumatic controls and does not have a selection gate. The station remains open at all times and automatically closes when the sow enters, thanks to a tilting mechanism. Before feed is dispensed, the sow is identified at the trough. After eating, the sow can back out of the station, ensuring a calm and secure eating environment without interruptions.
In the feeding station, sows eat one after another, with the order largely reflecting the social hierarchy. The animals decide how many portions they collect throughout the day, although most sows consume their daily portion in one sitting. Individual recognition ensures that the correct amount of feed is automatically dispensed for each sow.
The Intellitek Backout is ideal for gestating sows in stable groups, where the animals remain together throughout the entire gestation period and are moved to the farrowing pens as a group. This version is suitable for approximately 20 sows per feeding place and offers flexible configurations with 1 to 8 feeding places per station. Due to its modular design, the Intellitek Backout is also highly suitable for renovating existing sow farms.
