Hotraco presents Fortica-CEC controller for Central Egg Collection

6 February 2024 | Int. Livestockhousing Guide |

Make egg collection easy, automatic and effective

We are excited to announce our new Fortica-CEC Controller, a revolutionary system that can manage the egg flow in a whole farm with multiple barns. The Fortica was already a smart device that could control an optimal egg flow per barn, but with the Fortica Central Egg Collection (CEC), it can now adjust the egg flow according to the egg distribution in every barn. This way, Fortica-CEC ensures the desired output of eggs for efficient packing, grading and processing.

Hotraco’s Fortica Central Egg Collection (CEC) is a unique system that reduces egg collection labor time and costs while also increasing egg quality and facilitating the operators’ job. This is achieved by establishing low-complexity and high-efficiency egg collection processes, automating and limiting the number of starts and stops with a smooth egg flow.

•  Optimized egg collection processes and smooth egg flow
•  Automated operations and decreased system complexity
•  Decreased labor time and costs
•  Increased egg quality
•  Customizable solution to all farm types

Automated operations and decreased system complexity
Fortica-CEC controls several components in the egg flow and collection system, automating operations and simplifying the overall process. This is done through the continuous exchange of information that allows to react faster to the changing conditions of the layer barn. Multiple egg belts communicate with each other to ensure a constant supply of eggs. The system knows the amount of eggs per belt and automatically adjusts their speed to match collection needs and the packing capacity, as well automatically stopping and resuming processes when necessary.

How does Fortica Central Egg Collection work?
Central egg collection is enabled by the implantation of three main elements. The Eggxact egg counters are the first element. These smart egg counters communicate in real time with the Fortica poultry controller (second element) and tells the system the number of eggs on each belt. It then automatically adjusts the speed of the belts so that the amount of eggs on the cross conveyor always matches the desired egg output for individual barns.

The third element is the Fortica Central Egg Collection which expands the egg management capabilities to the level of the whole farm, including multiple barns. It connects with the Fortica’s in each barn and monitors the number of eggs per barn. This way, you can optimize the egg flow for efficient packing, grading and processing and save time and costs by reducing collection time and staffing requirements.

Proprietary high-precision egg counters
Our advanced egg counters have very high accuracy of 99.5% or even better. They can be used in many different barn types. Thanks to the real-time and continuous exchange of information, egg producers can react faster to changing conditions in the house and regulate the egg flow more quickly.
