Bato Plastics B.V. is expanding its product range with an innovative substrate trough, specifically developed for the professional vegetable growers. The Bato Vegetable Trough has been developed due to the growing demand for alternative, organic substrates and is available in two sizes: 17 liters and 23 liters.
The concept for this new substrate trough originated directly from market needs. Growers are increasingly looking for more efficient and sustainable solutions for their cultivation processes. These evolving demands have been translated by Bato’s R&D department into a practical and future-proof product. In close collaboration with various growers, requirements and preferences were thoroughly discussed and analyzed. This intensive development phase has resulted in a trough that is not only functional, but also ergonomically sound and environmentally conscious.
With a length of 120 cm and two available widths, the Bato Vegetable Trough ensures optimal plant spacing. Numerous drainage holes in the bottom provide excellent drainage, which is essential for effective water management and a healthy root environment. Organic substrates perform exceptionally well in this trough, contributing to reduced waste costs, increased yields, and stronger, more resilient plants.
The trough is also designed without sharp edges, significantly reducing the risk of damage to both plants and workers. It is suitable for placement directly on the ground as well as on a variety of growing gutters, making it highly versatile across different cultivation systems. Additionally, it is made entirely from recycled plastic. This not only ensures sustainability but also allows for full recyclability after use. Under specific conditions, the trough can even be steam-cleaned, supporting a hygienic growing environment.
