KOAT on its way up

9 March 2015 | Int. Greenhouse Guide

KOAT is going through a process of change. Strategy, in terms of product definition, geographical focus, lean manufacturing, and customer support (both pre and after sales) is currently being reviewed and improved. In the course of that process, house style and market communication have been modernized to live up to current customer requirements.

KOAT originates from a cucumber growers family and has evolved into a leading company, manufacturing of horticultural handling solutions for vegetable growers and packers. Always a front runner with machine designs which have been copied ever so often. Coming from this market KOAT understands the current needs. Where margins of customers are thin, KOAT offers very competitive solutions to lessen the workload on all processes around harvesting, conveying (AGV’s), unloading, grading, weighing, packing, palletizing, pallet stabilizing, etc. All material handling is offered in a professional manner, coming from one single source.

New in the KOAT portfolio is system integration. KOAT has organized a professional project management department, to realize complex integrated projects on a global basis. Although most equipment is manufactured in house, third party machines and auxiliary equipment will be integrated. Hence KOAT is moving towards consumer packing, to enable the customer base to realize added value. On top, KOAT has an excellent reputation in the realization of robotic solutions. With well thought through grippers and peripherals, KOAT has the right solution from compact to large scale applications.

One of the last developments has been for a weighing device to meet target weights for consumer packs. The idea is based on a multi head weighing principle with manual (random) feeding of various products (eg. TOV, loose tomatoes, grapes, etc.). This system is highly efficient with very accurate weighing results. This weighing system is part of a complete system, also including case packing and palletizing.

KOAT has also put a lot of emphasis on the uptime of the equipment provided. Global after sales service through first line support points and remote services through VPN and cameras, enabling fast and professional support to customers all over the globe.
