Koppert and Fresh Energy have signed a renewed and expanded partnership agreement, following the success of Egypt’s first large-scale biological crop protection program in commercial greenhouse production last season. The agreement was signed on 10 July by Henri Oosthoek (Director of Strategy & Alliances), Boaz Oosthoek (Business Unit Manager Middle East Africa), Yassin Lahiani (Area Manager), Alex Tetteroo (Consultant) and Fresh Energy’s CEO Mohamed Mohab and Managing Director Yousra Mahmoud. It marks a new phase in the collaboration, extending the use of Koppert’s biological crop protection solutions to 300 hectares of greenhouse cultivation for sweet pepper production in Egypt.

A milestone for Egyptian horticulture

Fresh Energy is a leading agricultural company operating across both greenhouse and open-field cultivation, offering a wide range of premium fruits and vegetables to leading supermarket chains. Together with local partner BioEgypt, the initial collaboration with Koppert marked a breakthrough in Egypt’s horticultural sector. For the first time, a fully biological crop protection program was successfully implemented on a commercial scale for sweet pepper production. This enabled Fresh Energy to meet the demands of its customers by delivering high-quality produce, including compliance with Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs).

“We are proud to have been the first to implement a successful biological program in Egypt together with Fresh Energy and our local partner BioEgypt,” said Yassin Lahiani, Area Manager at Koppert. “The achievements of last season have now resulted in an extended partnership, allowing us to support even more growers and greenhouse operations in adopting sustainable production practices.”

Shared ambition for sustainable agriculture

The renewed partnership reflects a shared ambition to drive sustainable innovation in Egyptian horticulture. With an increasing number of growers under pressure to reduce chemical inputs and meet global food safety standards, biological solutions offer a clear path forward. This collaboration positions Egypt as a regional frontrunner in sustainable greenhouse production, setting a strong example for neighboring countries and international markets.

“We look forward to a long-term journey defined by mutual growth and prosperity. I am grateful for Koppert’s commitment to this partnership and the shared vision that brings our organizations together,” said Mohamed Mohab, CEO of Fresh Energy. “We appreciate this cooperation and believe our partnership will pave the way to more remarkable initiatives and enterprise prospects. Koppert’s experience, combined with ours, will help us achieve Fresh Energy’s vision faster and more efficiently. We look forward to a successful collaboration and a beneficial relationship in the future.”
