RED Horticulture Showcases Breakthrough Research at International Horticultural Science Symposium in Greece

RED Horticulture is proud to announce the participation of Raphaël Quenum, Head of Agronomic Research Trials, as a featured speaker at the IX International Symposium on Seed, Transplant and Stand Establishment of Horticultural Crops and the III International Symposium on Vegetable Grafting, hosted by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).

Taking place in the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, this global event brings together leading horticultural scientists, researchers and industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in seed technology, transplant systems, and vegetable grafting techniques.

On Wednesday, June 4 at 9:00 AM, Quenum will deliver a presentation titled “Smart LED Lighting to Boost Crop Performance and Energy Efficiency in Propagation”, unveiling one of RED Horticulture’s research projects into dynamic LED lighting strategies for tomato seedling production.

The study compares the effects of different light spectra, particularly, using the dynamism of the red wavelength. The results show that using a strategy with a red wavelength dynamism during the photoperiod not only reduces energy consumption, but also significantly improves plant growth parameters, such as the number of leaves, biomass and compactness.

“This research highlights how smart lighting solutions can make a measurable difference in both plant development and sustainability,” says Raphaël Quenum. “It’s an important step forward in demonstrating how controlled lighting environments can optimize propagation practices across the horticultural industry.”

RED Horticulture’s participation underscores its commitment to innovation at the intersection of plant science and technology. The company continues to lead in the development of spectral solutions tailored to plant physiology, enabling growers worldwide to improve crop performance while reducing their environmental footprint.
