There is a new CE regulation in Europe since 2021. These regulations also apply to the pipe rail trolleys that drive around in the greenhouse. For example, pipe rail trolleys are obliged to comply with these new laws and regulations in order to guarantee safety. One of these manufacturers is Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility. In 2021 they released the GLD-series of pipe rail trolleys. These trolleys are equipped with the latest technologies and protections, making the trolleys super safe to work with.
Pipe rail trolleys with a sustainable stainless steel finish
The virus pressure among vegetable growers is very high these days. This has to do with the containment of the pesticides and viruses that are difficult to combat. The best solution for this is a good hygiene policy. Disinfection is key for this. For example, pipe rail trolleys are often cleaned with disinfectant. According to Sander Zuidgeest of Steenks Service, we have seen in recent years that many pipe rail trolleys break down due to the large amount of disinfectant that is used to clean the trolleys, because this disinfectant destroys the material and the control panel. The solution for this is the option for a stainless steel finish for the pipe rail trolley. ‘With the stainless steel finish, you no longer have to worry about this. Stainless steel is a sustainable material and is hardly affected by these disinfectants,’ says Sander.
80 new pipe rail trolleys at Schenkeveld tomatoes
Schenkeveld is a big Dutch tomato grower with 85 hectares of greenhouse. A well-known statement of Schenkeveld is: passion for perfection. In order to do everything as perfectly as possible, Schenkeveld has chosen to renew the entire fleet of pipe rail trolleys at 40 hectares. This concerns more than 80 pipe rail trolleys with a stainless steel finish.
Leon Schenkeveld asked Sander for ‘good carts’ that last a long time and are not affected by disinfectants. ‘Pipe rail trolleys are the heart of our company. After 10 years it was time to replace our old trolleys, to prevent us from standing still during driving. Furthermore we wanted to trade in our old trolleys and have good service with the new trolleys,’ says Leon.
In the end, Leon chose for the Berkvens GLD pipe rail trolleys with a stainless steel finish. To finalize the decision, each trolley is equipped with a stainless steel sanitizer bin of Steenks Service. The bin prevent virus spread within the greenhouse. A timer will run when your are working on the trolley. When the timer is over, this is indicated with an LED status lamp and then you have to dip your hands to be able to continue. With this new equipment, Schenkeveld can continue for at least 10 years.
