5 Years of intense research on strawberries, part of the Interreg North-West Europe Programme, spearheaded by the lead partner ‘Research Centre Hoogstraten – PCH’. The scienti c facts are fully proven, the application period has reached maturity and the accompanying strategy has been fully developed.
A project, which behind the scenes, received a tremendous amount of attention by the Bogaerts engineering teams and by means of technology integration, resulted in a successful marriage of one another’s added value.
The result of this hard work? The rst new family member of our Next-Gen-AGV solutions, the Qii-Drive Shift UV-CTM.
A fully autonomous Bogaerts crop protection platform which allows for the utmost accurate, safe and carefree application of UV-C, preventing mildew from spawning. The e ects of UV-C on mildew have of course been known for quite a while, but this newly applied scienti c and demonstrative research provides an unmistakable improvement of crop protection for the professional growers.
The application is 100% preventive and if applied correctly, which means the correct dose and frequency within the right timeframe, safeguards your greenhouse from the swarming fungus. A logical consequence, spraying the crops for prevention, is no longer necessary. A big win for both grower and consumer, as 41% of residue found on strawberries, can be traced back to chemicals used to prevent or treat mildew.
Results of the application also prove that 90% of the arti cial biochemistry like predatory mites, are well resistant to UV-C and properly succeed in maintaining their population.
At this moment in time, the Qii-Drive Shift UV-C is speci cally available for strawberry greenhouses while it will continuously further develop, targeting multiple applications in more diverse crops.
