We want to provide an innovative concept: the most sustainable grow bag of its kind!

The internationally leading growing media manufacturer Klasmann-Deilmann introduces the innovative Growbag ADVANCED to the fresh produce sector. The aim is to set new sustainability standards in protected fruit and vegetable production in greenhouses.

The innovative concept
The new Growbag ADVANCED uses an innovative renewable wood-based raw material mix with an improved CO2 footprint. Thanks to the very low proportion of coir and local wood materials, this growbag concept is also better available all year round and offers unbeatable advantages in cultivation. Better root growth, high yields and easy irrigation control make it a very successful product for vegetable and strawberry crops.

The Growbag ADVANCED dispenses with emission-loaded materials such as peat, perlite and rock wool by using the sustainable GreenFibre® wood fibre technology. This new concept is fully based on organic raw materials and 100% compostable. For crop safety, the Growbag ADVANCED is easy to steer, nutritionally balanced and offers superior structural stability to promotes plant growth.

Your extra: reducing carbon emissions in your crop
“We want to offer the fresh produce sector a grow bag that is both efficient and the most sustainable of its kind,” explains product manager Jan Vanoverschelde. “A carbon neutral economy is a large political target in many countries already and Klasmann-Deilmann provides a range of new growing media solutions to allow growers to significantly contribute to that target in their plant production.” He adds: “our Growbag ADVANCED is based on the innovative GreenFibre® mix and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 52 % compared to coir and even more compared to rock wool. Our goal for the near future is carbon-neutral growbags and we have already first solution tested in our R&D facilities.”

Convincing crop results
The new Growbag ADVANCED is already used by many growers in Europe with convincing crop results. For example in protected cultivation of tomato, cucumber, sweet pepper, pepper, hot pepper, aubergines and strawberry. Growers report about the easier steerability of irrigation, even with the potential of water savings due to the beneficial physical properties. Moreover, there is no pre-swelling of the bags needed prior to planting which makes it very convenient and fast for instant use in the greenhouse. Another observation made by growers is the healthier root growth with less occurrence of e.g. ‘crazy root’ disease. As a grow bag based only on organic raw materials, the Growbag ADVANCED also ideally complements the use of biological plant protection products and biostimulants to achieve healthy, vigorous and resistant plants.

The innovate bag is available in various formats for soft fruit and vegetable crops. Growbag ADVANCED provides growers with a very efficient high-quality product to improve sustainability in cultivation.

Many growers in Europe have successfully switched to the Growbag ADVANCED already.
